In-depth weather reporting

Disaster Alert is a free weather app developed by Pacific Disaster Center to offer critical hazard alerts to help people stay safe anywhere in the world. It is powered by the DisasterAWARE platform and delivers nearly real-time updates on 18 types of natural disasters worldwide.

With Disaster Alert, you can customize early warning alerts, access estimated impact reports, and view modeled hazard data. The app sources information from reliable, scientifically-verified sources and manually updates alerts when no official source is available. Only active hazards are included in the updates, such as those deemed potentially dangerous by the Pacific Disaster Center.

Keep track of weather hazards worldwide

The Disaster Alert app provides updates on various types of hazards that occur around the world. The app automatically processes updates on hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes, floods, wildfires, US tornadoes, and winter storms in real time. When official sources haven't reported any ongoing hazards yet such as marine hazards, storms, droughts, and manmade incidents, a team of professionals manually logs the information to ensure you're always up-to-date.

For those residing in Hawaii, reports on high surf advisories, high winds, and flash floods are also accessible. All these features mentioned can be accessed in an easy-to-use, intuitive user interface that the app employs. Hazard icons are also color-coded accordingly to represent the severity of the hazard. In addition, the app has a theme that integrates the DisasterAWARE branding and colors, as well as a dark and light mode.

While the app's main purpose is to inform you of the latest weather hazards, its notification alerts aren't too detailed. The notifications the app will send you aren't informative enough and would require to be opened manually, which can be a hassle in times of emergency. Still, it serves its purpose well thanks to its scientifically-backed sources to provide you with reliable information.

Has a few frizzes to work out

Disaster Alert provides updates on various hazards worldwide in almost real-time, with a bonus for Hawaii residents as they can access specialized reports. The user interface is user-friendly, with hazard icons color-coded according to severity for easier identification. However, the app's notification alerts lack details and require manual opening, which can be a drawback during emergencies. Still, it's a solid app for keeping yourself updated with the weather.

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.

Flag any particular issues you may encounter and Softonic will address those concerns as soon as possible.
